What is an FNO?
A Fibre Network Operator (FNO) is the company that owns and maintains the physical fibre infrastructure — the cables in the ground, the ducts, and the connection point at your premises. CommComm works with multiple FNOs to source the right fibre product for your location and requirements, then manages the full installation and support process on your behalf. You deal with us — not a list of different service providers.

Fibre tiers
The right fibre for your business
Not all fibre is created equal. The tier that's right for you depends on your team size, the nature of your work, and what's at stake when your connection drops. We'll assess your requirements and recommend accordingly.
Residential fibre
Typically 25Mbps – 200Mbps
Designed primarily for home use, residential fibre can be a practical interim solution for very small operations, sole traders or home-based businesses with modest connectivity needs.
It is an asynchronous, best-effort service — meaning speeds are not guaranteed and upload capacity is typically lower than download. It is not recommended as a primary connection for a trading business.
Cost-effective entry-level connectivity
Suitable for 1–3 users with light usage
Best-effort, not SLA-backed
Useful as a secondary or backup line
Available on most FNO networks nationwide
Interim & backup use
- Most popular
Business fibre
Typically 50Mbps – 1Gbps
Purpose-built for business use. Business fibre delivers symmetrical upload and download speeds, a dedicated service level agreement (SLA), and priority fault resolution — the foundation your hosted PBX, cloud services and day-to-day operations depend on.
This is the tier we recommend for the majority of our business clients. It supports VoIP calls, video conferencing, cloud applications and multiple simultaneous users without compromise.
Symmetrical speeds — upload equals download
SLA-backed with defined fault response times
Supports hosted PBX, UCaaS and cloud services
Suitable for 5–100+ users depending on speed
Priority queue over residential traffic
Static IP addresses available
Recommended for most businesses
Enterprise fibre
Typically 100Mbps – 10Gbps
Enterprise-grade dedicated fibre for organisations where connectivity is mission-critical infrastructure. Enterprise fibre delivers a point-to-point or dedicated leased line connection — guaranteed bandwidth, fully symmetrical, with the highest tier SLA and fastest response commitments available.
Recommended for large offices, multi-site environments, data-intensive operations, and businesses that cannot tolerate any degradation in service quality.
Dedicated, uncontended bandwidth — not shared
Highest-tier SLA with 4-hour or better fault response
Fully symmetrical speeds at all times
Scalable from 100Mbps to 10Gbps
Multiple static IPs and custom routing available
Suitable for 50–1,000+ users and data centre links
Enterprise & mission-critical
Our speciality
Never go offline. Our dual WAN solution.
A single fibre connection, however reliable, is still a single point of failure. Cables get damaged. FNOs have outages. When that happens to a business without a backup, the phones go down, cloud services become unreachable, and productivity stops. Our dual WAN solution makes sure that never happens to you.
How it works
Two connections. One seamless experience.
We pair a dual WAN router with two separate internet connections — typically your primary business fibre line and a secondary connection from a different provider or technology entirely. The router continuously monitors both lines and fails over to the backup automatically, in seconds, without any intervention from you.
Your staff won't notice. Your phones stay up. Your cloud services remain reachable. Business continues as normal — even during a full outage on your primary line.

Result for your business
If the primary line fails, the router switches to the backup automatically — in seconds. Phones stay up. Cloud services stay reachable. Your team carries on working.
Zero downtime. No manual intervention required.
Why CommComm for fibre
More than just an internet connection
Any reseller can sell you a fibre product. What matters is who stands behind it — and whether your connectivity is designed to work seamlessly with the rest of your business technology.
Access to multiple FNOs
We're not tied to a single network. We assess which FNOs have coverage at your premises, compare their SLAs and pricing, and recommend the right fit — giving you choice and leverage that you wouldn't have going direct.
End-to-end management
We handle the application, FNO liaison, installation co-ordination and router configuration from start to finish. Once you're live, we remain your single point of contact for anything connectivity-related — no chasing multiple providers.
Built for your phone system
We design your connectivity with your VoIP and hosted PBX in mind. Bandwidth allocation, QoS configuration and router setup are all done to ensure crystal-clear voice quality — fibre and telecoms done together, not in isolation.
Redundancy by default
Our default recommendation includes a backup solution — whether LTE/5G or a secondary FNO line. We've seen too many businesses lose a full day's productivity to a fibre outage. We make sure that doesn't happen to our clients.
Interim connectivity solutions
Waiting for fibre to be installed? Moving to new premises? We can provide LTE/5G solutions to keep your business connected immediately — including your hosted PBX and cloud services — while your permanent connection is provisioned.
Ongoing local support
Our Durban team monitors your connectivity and is available when things go wrong. We liaise with the FNO on your behalf, track fault resolution, and keep you informed — so you can focus on running your business, not chasing a helpline.
