We started with
one clear goal.

To prove to South African businesses that VoIP works. Not just technically — but reliably, affordably, and with the kind of support that actually picks up when something goes wrong.

Our story

We set out to prove that VoIP works — and we haven't stopped proving it since.

Commercial Communications was founded in Durban in 2017 with a very clear purpose: to show South African businesses that modern VoIP and cloud telephony wasn't a gamble — it was the smarter, more reliable, more affordable way to communicate.

At the time, many businesses were sceptical. They'd heard the horror stories — dropped calls, poor voice quality, systems that nobody knew how to support locally. We understood that scepticism completely, and we knew the only way to overcome it was through three things: choosing the right equipment, delivering exceptional customer service, and embracing new technologies with genuine expertise.

That's still what drives us today. Every system we design, every call we take, every client we support — it's all in service of that original mission. Not just to satisfy our clients, but to make them genuinely happy, measurably more productive, and confident that their communications are built for where their business is going.

What drives us

Three pillars. One purpose.

From day one, three beliefs have shaped every decision we make — from the brands we partner with, to the way we answer the phone when a client calls.

  1. The right equipment — always

We spent our early years testing, evaluating and learning — so you don't have to. The brands we recommend aren't chosen because they're the cheapest or the easiest to sell. They're chosen because they work.

Yeastar's P-Series platform, Panasonic's KX-Series and Samsung's OfficeServ range are all proven in the South African market. They perform in our conditions — load shedding, variable connectivity, the realities of doing business in KZN — and they're supported by local expertise that's available when you need it.

We will never recommend something we wouldn't put in our own office.

    Proven technology, SA-tested

  2. Customer service that means something

In the telecoms industry, "support" too often means logging a ticket and waiting. That's not how we operate. When a client calls, they reach someone who knows their system, understands their setup, and can actually help — right then.

We've built our business on the understanding that a phone system is mission-critical infrastructure. If yours isn't working, neither is your business. That's why we treat every support call with the same urgency we'd want if the situation were reversed.

Customer service isn't a department at CommComm — it's the whole point of the business.

Real support, real people, same time zone

  3. Embracing new technology — genuinely

We started CommComm because we believed in VoIP when many still doubted it. That same forward-thinking approach guides everything we do. When UCaaS platforms matured, we adopted them. When mobile working became essential, we were already deploying Linkus. When Teams integration became possible, we learnt it properly before recommending it.

We don't chase trends — we evaluate them carefully and embrace them when they genuinely benefit our clients. The goal is always the same: to ensure your business communications are as capable, reliable and future-proof as possible.

    Forward-thinking, practically applied

What makes us different

Not just another telecoms reseller

There are plenty of companies that will sell you a phone system. Very few will take genuine ownership of the outcome — and stay accountable for it long after the installation is done.

Our journey

Eight years of earning trust — one client at a time

  1. 2017 — Founded

One goal, one city, one team

Commercial Communications opens in Durban with a single mission: demonstrate to KZN businesses that VoIP is reliable, affordable and worth embracing. The sceptics are everywhere. We get to work.

  2. 2018–2019 — Building credibility

    Growing through referrals

Our first clients — converted by results, not marketing — begin referring colleagues and contacts. The CommComm reputation for honest advice and reliable systems starts to take root across KZN.

  3. 2020 — VoIP proves itself

    The moment everything changed

When businesses across South Africa scrambled to enable remote work overnight, our clients were already ready. Yeastar Linkus had their teams connected from day one. For many, this was the moment they truly understood the value of what we'd built for them.

  4. 2021–2023 — Full UCaaS

    Beyond voice — unified communications

We expand from basic VoIP to full UCaaS deployments — video conferencing, team messaging, CRM integration and Microsoft Teams direct calling. Clients who once needed a phone system now have a complete communications platform.

  5. 2024 onwards — Still proving it

    Same mission, sharper capability

We continue expanding our solutions — hosted cloud PBX, office automation and CCTV — while staying true to what we've always been: a locally owned, client-obsessed Durban business that genuinely cares about the outcome for every single client.

Our promise

What you can always count on

  • Honest advice — even when it's not what you expectWe'll tell you if a solution isn't right for your situation, before you spend a rand on it.
  • A written quote — no surprisesClear, itemised pricing before any work begins. No hidden costs, no unexpected invoices after the fact.
  • Systems that work — and keep workingWe install properly, test thoroughly and monitor proactively. A phone system should simply work.
  • Fast response when it matters mostDowntime costs you money. Our Durban team responds quickly — because we'd expect the same if the tables were turned.
  • A long-term relationship — not a once-off transactionWe want to be your communications partner for years — not just the company that installed your system once and moved on.

Client voices

Happy clients. That's the metric.

We don't measure success in units shipped or systems installed. We measure it in clients who are genuinely happy with what we've delivered — and who trust us with more of their business over time.

“Nothing is ever too much trouble for Nate and his team. We have trusted them for many years with our communications. Our business has grown over the last few years and they have been there every step of the way.”

Sean UysDirector, Beach & Bush Adventure Expeditioners

“His team did an excellent installation job. Everything they did was with professionalism… If we need any help with something, they respond very quickly, with assistance and support.”

Bluff Yacht ClubExecutive Committee

“Lance’s commitment to excellence extends beyond installation; his ongoing support has been exemplary. It’s rare to encounter someone with such dedication to client satisfaction, and we couldn’t be more grateful for his efforts.”
